livejournal backup

I have just finished backing up my daumeric livejournal. It has 87 pages. I am going to have to do some clean up on both livejournal files before I can print them. I am going to put them in a binder along with a bunch of entries that I made in a text editor. I want them to be easy to find if anything ever happens to me. When my brother died we could not find most of his journal. He had been very dedicated about journaling. I don't really know for sure but I think he had changed from a hand written journal to a computer based journal and burned all of the paper.

Jennika's Laptop

I am currently on My neices laptop. I am in the process of checking it for bad stuff. You know virus, spyware and such. What started the search was her comming in and asking me to look at the laptop. There was something telling her that she had 27 viruses. It turned out that she had one. It was called security tools. It pretends to be a virus scanner and tells you that you have a ton of viruses and offers to fix them for a fee. I am currently running spybot search and destroy as a safty measure but I think I have gotten everything. This laptop is the one I bought out of my first paycheck at walmart. I recently decided that she needed it more then I did. I wrote her a not telling her that it was hers. It got me lots and lots of hugs. Well worth the sacrifice.

I can't remember if I already mentioned giving the laptop to her so I write about it now.

My Mother-in-law got a very interesting documentary on dvd. It is about the star of bethlehem. The guy doing the presentation did a lot of study using the bible and other sources and then coupled it with a computer program that calculates star charts. He found some interesting stuff happening in the sky around the time of the birth of jesus.

http://www.bethlehemstar.net/

Livejournal backup

I spent this evening backing up my original live journal. I cut and pasted it into a text editor. It has 33 pages total. I started on this one but my wrist hurts from using the mouse. I had done this before but I am not certain what I did with the files. I am seriously thinking about not doing any more online journaling. I think paper and ink are a much more reliable way of recording my thoughts. The new adds are just icing on the cake. They make this medium almost unusable.

I am tired of being cold. This Stupid weather is Adams fault. If he had not taken a bite of that stupid apple we would be living in paradise right now. Eve was deceived Adam knew what he was doing and did it anyway. It could have even been fixed if he had accepted the blame when God asked him about it rather them blaming eve.

I was just thinking about the miniseries. Something has been bothering me about it for quite some time. When I was in highschool I read a book that I am pretty sure the miniseries was based on. It was not the original wizard of oz books. It was a spin off set very much in the future of oz. I wish I could remember what the book was called and who it was by. Usually movies like that spark more then the memory of a books existance. I have had several books recalled to memory and the movie ususally has the same name as the book. I did a search for the book and it doesn't show up.

I am planning on going back to school in january and trying to finish my degree. Hopefully I do better then I did last time. Of course that is dependent on me qualifying for finacial aid. One thing which will help is technology wise I am much better equiped then I was last time. I have flash drives to carry files and my netbook for doing homework on along with a pretty fast desktop computer.

I will be going to the college here in town rather then the one in olympia. I transfered the songs that I had ripped on my Ubuntu Linux Box to my MP3 Player and found that most of them were not showing up right. I only had to open them up in the editor and they were fixed. I think that the ripper mangled the tags a little. The data was there but not readable untill I opened the files in the editor.

My computer desk is accessable again. My wonderful wife helped me get to it tuesday night. We took out several bags of garbage and Junked my arm chair. The arm chair was well loved by the cats and had become a clutter catcher.

Yesterday I Nuked the Windows 7 Beta install that I had on my desktop computer and installed OpenSuse. I also replaced the ethernet cable. It had ceased to work due to a combination of being walked on and getting wet when I defrosted the freezer a while back. being walked on had seperated the cover and let water in so the wires coroded.

I also replaced my MP3 player which has gone on holiday. I bought the cheapest one Walmart sells. I think once I get another job I will have to go and get a more expensive one. The one I bought will work for now but I would really like one with more features. Things like video and a rechargable battery. The one I bought is only music and uses a AAA battery. It is branded RCA but probably made by someone else. It shows up on Linux as an audiovox. I am on my third MP3 player and they have all been branded RCA. That is a total accident. I think I will hold out for a sony next time.
